I have spent the last two days preparing for the mother of all garage sales. We are selling everything except what will fit in the 23′ motorhome. However, that wonderful job had to be put on hold. Darren had a grad to shot at 9AM in Columbia, SC. So after he got done working yesterday we unplugged and headed up to Sesquicentennial State Park.
We were unable to leave until about 6 o’clock. So as the sun was setting as we approached Columbia. “Do you have your headlights on?” I hear from the passenger’s seat. “They’re always on” I reply as I look at the amount of light on the road in front of the other cars. Yep, both headlights are out and it’s approaching 9PM. Darren pulls out his Crackberry and begins searching for an Auto Zone. ”OK, 4.5 miles. We can make it.” We find the store without too much difficulty and I watch as Darren walks to the front door and KNOCKS!?! Yeah right, like some teenager is going re-open the store just because we have an emergency. I am picturing us sleeping in the Auto Zone parking lot at this point. No, somebody is letting him in. In a few short minutes he reappears with a shopping bag and has the headlights replaced a few short minutes after that. Yea! We are back on our way.
In around 20 minutes we arrive at the locked gates of our campground. As we sit in the entrance trying to decide where we might spend the night, with our new headlights shining on the impassable gates, a family in a truck pulls up leaving the park. Darren gets out and convinces him that we are not serial killers and that we do, in fact, have a reservation. He agrees to let us in. So the moral of the story is always bring your Darren.
